I'm currently at university so all torrenting is blocked. The launcher download never really works for anyone I don't think. Is there any links out there for 1.8 that aren't a torrent?

I also don't use torrents. Have installed the originslauncher mod tonight and started to download 1.8 and my... its slow. 2.3mbs per second out if 2.7gb
