Maybe there is a good reason that you can't, but i think you should be able to build closer to fences. I have a compound with plenty of room in it, but i am unable to lay a second foundation down because it keeps saying it is too close to the fences. I know you can lay the foundation first then build the fences very close, but i already have the compound built so it kinda sucks. Also, it makes it difficult to lay down tents or storage boxes inside your compound if it isn't very large. I understand maybe not being able to build close to gates to avoid griefing other people, but maybe it can be considered for the future to allow building close to fences.

Same problem here. The funny thing is i could build my garage much closer to the walls than houses.
