The LOCK System

Found a small raft that I locked in Novi over a week ago still locked today...havent been to Novi for over a week...this is just wrong....I voted to get rid of the lock system but if it remains it needs to be modified. EG....change the lock period to 48 hours. If the boat/car/chopper is not unlocked by the 48 hr mark the vehicle either becomes unlocked or respawns....hope the lock system goes though...

Well that's a simple case of no one wanting that particular vehicle. If a vehicle is locked and worth getting then someone will blow it up and wait for it to respawn. Thus how I've lost several locked nautiluses (nautilusi? :? ). I do slightly agree though, there was a KA that I put hundred of rounds into and it just sat locked for the longest time. I could have suicided a bi-plane or something if I really wanted it though.

There are ways of "unlocking" vehicles.

There are..as there are other possible options for the lock system if it is to continue.....eg1) reduce the amount of damage necessary to blow up the vehicle...2) maybe only allow certain vehicles to be locked..eg leave all rafts unlockable (also add some new spawns for the rafts on the map to increase the number :oops: ),,..maybe only some higher end vehicles may be locked ...something along this line of reasoning....remember only the flying fortress was lockable before this update so there is a precedent for limiting the type and amount of vehicles to be locked...so make it maybe half of each type of transpo....so air..car...boat 3) make locked vehicles easier to steal by simply changing the necessary requirements to steal a vehicle...a toolbox..an electrical circuit..a battery and a codelock in order to break the lock open ...maybe keep the esl tool only for the flyingfortress....there are modifications to the lock system that could work to everyones satifaction...it doesn't have to be all or nothing.

Well I can now speak from experience that locking multiple vehicles and attempting to hoard them doesn't really work long term. My group (rather small) had accumulated 4 locked vehicles in an area that we made sure no vehicle could enter by building houses and barriers in the right locations. In the course of an hour somehow they were all destroyed. So if people really want to get vehicles they can find a way to destroy the locked ones.

Ultimately I think it comes down to the server. If you are expecting to play solo on INT005, you are probably doing yourself a disservice since finding and keeping resources/vehicles against the multiple clans of 5-10 players will be extremely difficult. However, if you have a few people to play with then it's not too hard to get these things and keep them or rebuild when you lose them. If you want to solo then another server where resources/vehicles aren't as highly contested is probably in order.

I don't think it's simply a single player vs clan thing. As you've said....you are having trouble keeping ur locked vehicles... even with your group ...then I would suggest you should support the no lock option since it hasn't helped you keep the vehicles anyways...all the lock system does is ruin an aspect of the game that was excellent for gameplay....namely that any vehicle you can fix,you can take...that is a way better game dynamic than locking a vehicle. Remove tires to stall a vehicle from being stolen or rotor. As you've said yourself...vehicle locks are not helping you keep your vehicles anyways so lets just get rid of them for the good of the game

You've slightly convinced me. The feeling of stumbling across a good vehicle (that couldn't fit in a garage) in some random forest and knowing all you needed was a few vehicle parts to take it was rather enjoyable. That feeling does still exist, but it's not as common with the ability to lock vehicles.

But saying the lock system hasn't helped me keep vehicles is kind of ridiculous. It's a great deterrent from easy theft. But if my locked vehicle is worth acquiring and a person is motivated/knowledgeable enough to do it, they can make it their own. I know that's true and I have to plan accordingly.

I would support a 48 hour locking system where the vehicle respawns or unlocks if it hasn't been accessed. I don't know what the current duration is but locking and leaving for longer than that would pretty clearly negatively impact the game.

I know the lock system has helped you keep cars...so fair enough...you know...I'm not so against the lock system,,,I just think that we need a better way...I would propose that if you had an electrical circuit..a battery,,,code lock and toolbox that you could unlock the vehicle,,,to me that would be the best scenario because then the electrical circuits remain an important aspect of the game...but that is something that comes from the devs and not our server.

i feel that the lock system should be down to the server owners , i.e they should be able to turn off the lock system via origins guard , for example say someone wants a pve server for origins then surly they should be aloud to have the option to have locked vehicles so that people dont steal them to troll?

It is up to the server owner. This topic is for our particular server..... INT005
