Worst night ever...

Post by Thomas Sullivan Magnum »

Ok, so really, I should have thought it was a bad idea to continue playing last night after my first 'frustrating incident'.

1. Log in to game, leave house and get shot by AI (assumably) before doing or seeing anything!

From that point, I should have just not logged in to the bloody game for the evening - didn't learn from that one.

2. A friend and I then go in our car to collect our final rocks for our 2nd house - our car gets stuck in Sabina - glitched. Tried for 25 unsuccessful minutes to free it but to no avail. Walk back to Lybestok to get 2nd car and try to get to Byelov mine again. - Should have realised this wasnt going to work!

3. Finally arrive at Byelov (still with my new found G17 pistol which I am loving at this point). Mine 100 rocks and fill the car. We set off to our little base back towards Lybestok... - BANG! Blown up, (again - never saw the AI). Lost 2nd car for the night, lost my newly found G17 pistol, 2 decent backpacks and all my bloody rocks for the 2nd house!!

4. At this point, my friend and I agree to log off and may look for a new server as the missions seems to spawn a lot.

My questions from this experience are:

1. Move but stay on another PvE only server as I just want to experience a fun game (dont mind the off PvP but I cant be bothered being popped off every 3 mins when Im still a new player).
2. Stay on server as my friend and I have 1 house and garage and a set of foundations for second house (many items stored too) - but have I made a mistake being in lybestok as we got killed by AI as we left our house!
3. Move to PvP and hope I can still experience some gameplay without being whipped every 3 mins?
4. Any server suggestions - thanks all!

Oh, and how can I contact the admin for the Zombie Nation server to sort out that glitch in Sabina and to lower the active missions - jees, I couldn't go anywhere yesterday without a sniper on a mountain, or army patrolling the roads

I know the feel bro. After playing Origins for god knows how long, I've had my fair share of frustrating moments like this.

I've recently picked up Origins again, along iwth my friends. We've started on a new server which is no highly populated at the moment, but the admins there are fantastic.

+ The AI's skill lvl is set way lower than most servers, so it's perfect for new gamers

Hi Thomas,

i am the Admin of the Server you are playing on and i am sorry to say but no Origins Admin can do anything to fix glitches/bugs in the game. Thats the job of the Devs from OriginsMod or are not fixable because of the Arma 2 Engine.

Regarding the Missions, you have a PDA in your Startgear, use it. If you are near a Missions Spawn, don't drive there if you don't know the Mission. Of course you can move to a Server with less Missions, 10% Bot Skill and active Nameplates. Would be probably easier for you.

Hi tripiz, thanks for coming on and replying. As Ive stated, Im a new player, learning fast. With regards to your server which I have enjoyed up to now; where can I see its full setup? I know its Veteran, it has missions (but how frequent? as there seem a lot which isn't always a bad thing) trader is off and lock is off, is there anyway I can see the full setup?

I did use the PDA, and was hoping the mission might have finished by then, but I guess it hadnt - still didnt see them coming though :( How long do the missions last?

Thanks again for coming on

So if the server resets every 4hrs, and due to low population, could there be a total of 12 missions at any one time? I am just trying to understand whether I can play on a server with this many missions. Ive died probably 5 times this week due to AI, and I never even see them coming.

Its been a good learning server for me, just looking to see if I can learn a bit more. The sections above in red (your original message) what exactly are these settings?

Hi,

yes, max. 12 Mission, 11 Missions playable.

- There is a Trader Island (east from taviana zoo) where you can trade good stuff for crap. Trader is disabled on this Server.
- You can lock vehicles (cars/helis...) You can use them only if you know the code. You need some stuff to lock them.
- Max weight you can carry in you main inventory and backpack before you pass out.
- There are 4 holes in the Sector B Wall. You can block two of them if enabled.
