Yes.Its rare but they exist.

Try farming 44boxes of screws before there was a trader ... now THAT is frustrating

2nd them there was this last restart:)

Yes I have been there with the frustration of looting for hours for screws when building my nest, not the best fun I have had.

The reward of a mission is mostly random. But there are missions which have a chance to spawn screws while others have not.
Some missions have items they spawn everytime. Like the 'Taviana Sniper' mission. Unfortunately there is no known mission which will definitvly spawn a screw.
If you are lucky you can get 2 screws out of one mission.
But even if you dont get one, try to complete missions for items you can easily trade
