Why isnt Origins on Arma 3. I love the mod, but I can't handle Arma 2, the player base has also moved to Arma 3. You guys should port and blow those mother fuckers at epoch out of the water.

The thing about Arma 3 is, that it's still in heavy development and it happens that the games core changes weekly (gigabite big patches), wich can make the mod unplayable. They are changing script variables constantly, so it would have to be changed all over again. (Not to mention it's current server performance problems...)
And secondly, well everything needs to be redone, all models, all scripts, whole Taviana needs to be fixed (Arma 3 makes everything 1.5 times bigger than in arma 2 so it cant be directly ported bugfree).
Furthermore theres the liscensing, wich says that you're not allowed to port anything what isn'T yours (including DayZ core) to arma 3..
As you can see, there's a lot of work to be done there, but we will see, how everything works out.

How about just skipping ArmA3 and doing an Origins Mod for the standalone DayZ? It'll be using Steam Workshop eventually. Standalone has improved this year and when I play it I see the potential for Origins using that engine.

Epoch seem to be doing great on arma3 in terms of performance, I know a few have used Taviana map in Arma 3 and the performance is awesome . I personally get over 60 FPS in sabina on Arma 3, where i get about 5 Fps when i play it on Arma 2.

Arma 3 is optimized a lot better than Arma 2, much improved graphics and performance. what script variables are changing constantly? every time there has been update, epoch code worked, and if it didnt the dev's released a one line code to fix it for eveyone..

You should seriously consider moving to Arma 3, because once all players played arma 3 like myself you get used to it and cant come back to Arma2 at all..

Look, I think a lot of us would love to see Origins on Arma 3. We have a fairly large group of players that used to play Origins on Arma 2 constantly and can recount so many awesome memories. We've all since moved on to Arma 3, as its much more optimized, no longer in development and runs extremely well compared to Arma 2.

Arma 3 is no longer in development (e.g. no longer a beta) and is still very much actively supported. There are many mods for Arma 3 and we play most of them. There will be times, though, during our gaming sessions that we'll reminisce on the days of Origins. There really isn't a mod like it. I've seen Epoch servers using the full Taviana 3.5 map, and had very long discussions with those server admins on their experiences bringing it over to Arma 3. I've set up a test, closed server and have done the same -- the performance was absolutely amazing.

On behalf of the Arma 3 community, I would like to ask the Origins team to please consider bringing over their awesome mod to Arma 3. I know that scripting will need to be re-written but character and vehicle models can be ported over. If you own the rights, you can freely port over from Arma 2 to Arma 3. At any rate, I would gladly offer my assistance as a developer to in any way possible to make this a reality.

I personally hate Arma 3, but I agree that a port needs to happen or atleast be announced. This is by far the most original mod out, and the most fun. The only mod that stuck to it's guns and didn't turn into a full on PVP armory with snipers at every spawn. Thank you for keeping looting alive!

I started playing again after a 2 year hiatus and am having a blast doing so. Please, atleast let us know if it's being worked on or does the mod stop at A2.
